Dubai Mall: Underwater Zoo & Aquarium
Dive into a mesmerizing underwater world at the Dubai Mall Underwater Zoo & Aquarium, one of the largest and most impressive indoor aquariums in the world. Located on the ground floor of Dubai Mall, this aquatic wonderland is home to thousands of marine species, providing an unforgettable experience for families, couples, and adventure seekers alike.
Aquarium Experience
- Main Tank: The centerpiece of the aquarium is a massive 10-million-liter tank, housing over 140 species of sea creatures, including sharks, rays, and giant groupers. As you walk through the glass tunnel, you’ll feel like you’re walking beneath the waves, surrounded by these majestic creatures swimming all around you.
- Prime Time: (Late afternoon to evening, approximately 4 PM to 8 PM) – The aquarium looks particularly stunning as the lights begin to fade and the animals become more active, offering an even more dramatic atmosphere. The bustling Dubai Mall adds to the experience, with visitors creating an energetic vibe around the aquarium. It’s a perfect time to enjoy the aquarium after a day of shopping or dining.
- Non-Prime Time: (Morning to early afternoon, before 4 PM) – If you prefer a quieter, more relaxed experience, visiting the aquarium during non-prime hours allows you to take in the beauty of the marine life without the crowds. The aquarium is just as awe-inspiring, and you can take your time to appreciate each species as you stroll through the exhibits.
Underwater Zoo Experience
After exploring the aquarium, venture to the Underwater Zoo, located on the second level, where you can explore diverse ecosystems from around the world. The zoo features three main ecological zones:
- Rainforest: Step into a tropical rainforest habitat with exotic creatures like piranhas, poison dart frogs, and a variety of birds.
- Desert: Discover the fascinating species that thrive in harsh desert climates, such as the Arabian sand boa and nocturnal creatures like the hedgehog.
- Ocean: The ocean zone is where you can get up close to the tank's larger residents, including giant fish and sea turtles.
Interactive exhibits and touch pools allow you to get hands-on with some of the animals, including starfish, sea cucumbers, and even small rays. You can also learn about conservation efforts aimed at protecting marine life.
